HEATHER ALLEN
Art direction, graphic design & illustration
I am a published children's book illustrator and an experienced graphic designer with 20 years in the creative industry. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with publishing giants HarperCollins, Cornish clothing brands Seasalt and Frugi, and currently with global medical brand CooperSurgical. Having also run my own design business, I have successfully developed brand identities, provided art direction, and collaborated with a diverse range of clients across the UK.
With a strong focus on organisation and efficiency, I have led teams of designers and photographers, managed critical project timelines and overseen budgets. I am skilled at taking a project from inception to completion, and resolving challenges as they arise. My mantra is “communication is key,” ensuring all stakeholders are informed, engaged, and receptive to feedback throughout the process. A confident introvert, I carefully process situations to effectively resolve conflicts in challenging environments.
I’m experienced in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Fresco, PowerPoint, After Effects, Figma and Squarespace, with experience in both print and digital design.
Upon leaving university in 2004 I was shortlisted for 'Best New Illustrator' at the Booktrust Early Years Award in London. This was for my first children's book 'Little Green Monsters' (Meadowside Children's Books). Although my career has since focused on graphic design, having illustration in my skillset only enhances any branding projects I undertake.
Above all, I am passionate about using my skills and expertise to create compelling, cohesive brand identities for my clients. I take pride in delivering designs that are not only visually distinctive but also resonate deeply with the intended audience. The greatest satisfaction comes from seeing a happy client at the end of the creative journey.

Living between Cornwall and Devon, I enjoy coastal walks with my partner Will, cuddling boney greyhounds (the best dog breed ever!) and printmaking.
